Commissioners Dedicate Memorial to County Friend

After their meeting on Monday, August 3, 2015, the Alamance County commissioners dedicated a memorial bench to Donald L. Wilson, Jr., who passed away in July 2015.

Don was a well-known figure in downtown Graham, where he made many friends with people in county government, local businesses, and visitors to the downtown area.  He spent his days in downtown Graham conversing with anyone he came across, running errands for people around town, and working to counsel people going through the criminal courts system as a part of his association with Piedmont Men of Steel..

At the dedication, Chairman Ingle warmly remembered comments made by a pastor at Don’s funeral, that Don had the unique ability to bring together a wide range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds together in friendship and affection.

The memorial bench is located on the first floor of the County Office Building, where Don spent many hours.  The dedication plaque reads:

In Loving Memory of
Donald “Denzel” L. Wilson, Jr.
12/9/51-7/11/15
Always Loved…
Never Forgotten…
Forever Missed…
