NOTICE OF MEETINGS OF THE ALAMANCE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW

Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 105-322 the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will meet as required by law.

PURPOSE OF MEETINGS
To hear upon request, any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property assessed for taxation in Alamance County, with respect to the valuation of such property, or the property of others, and to fulfill other duties and responsibilities required by law.


TIME OF MEETINGS
The Board will convene for its first meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The Board will adjourn for the purpose of accepting requests for hearing on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

The meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 am in the County Commissioners Meeting Room 2nd floor of the County Office Building.

Requests for hearing must be received no later than final adjournment which is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

In the event of earlier or later adjournment, notice to that effect will be published in this newspaper.

The schedule for the hearing of appeals timely filed will be posted at the office of the Tax Administrator, serving as Clerk to the Board and will also be provided to individuals and organizations that have requested notice pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.12.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.

The purpose of this Special Meeting is twofold. First, to hear, upon request, any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property assessed to taxation in Alamance County, who did not receive prior notice of the ability to be heard by this Board with respect to the valuation of such property. Second, to discuss a recent order of the North Carolina Property Tax Commission for remand on an appealed property and for staff to take direction from the Board. No further actions or announcements are expected.

Public Notice of Special Meeting for January 17, 2024 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253. 

The purpose of this Special Meeting is to discuss the giving of notice by the Board as to its duties under N.C.G.S. § 105-322 and for staff to take direction from the Board. No further actions or announcements are expected.

UPDATED 8/5/20 – New Drive-Through Service Opening August 17th for Alamance County Property Tax Payments.

The Alamance County Tax Office is pleased to announce the August 17th opening of a drive-through service at 378 Harden Street in Burlington (formerly Medicap Pharmacy). While no walk-in payments may be accepted at this location, drive-through customers may pay with cash or check. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are also accepted with a 2.5% convenience fee. The drive-through will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, beginning August 17th.

Walk-in payments will still be accepted at the county office at 124 West Elm Street in Graham. Due to COVID-19 safety measures, capacity for walk-ins is greatly reduced and wait times may be longer than usual. The Tax Office encourages citizens to pay via mail, drive-through, dropbox, or online to avoid long wait times.

Alamance County Tax Office Closed to the Public

In order to protect the health of our visitors and employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Alamance County Tax Department will be closing to the public beginning Monday, March 23. Tax services will still be provided by phone and email. All payments will continue to be processed by mail, drop-box, online, and by phone.

“While the Tax Department is closed to the public, our staff will be working hard to continue offering all tax services to the public,” says Jeremy Akins, Tax Administrator. “We appreciate the community’s support during this time and will reopen again when able to safely and responsibly provide services to our residents.”
