Alamance Library Branches Closing Early

The Alamance County Public Library Branches (May Memorial, Graham, and Mebane) will be closing at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 15.

The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be open from 10:00am to 1:00pm for their half price day.

Segundo Refugio en el Condado de Alamance

El Condado de Alamance abrirá el Centro Comunitario Fairchild (827 S. Graham Hopedale Rd, Burlington, NC 27217) el viernes (09/14/18) a las 10:00 a.m. para todos aquellos que necesiten refugio de emergencia debido al Huracán Florence.

Aquellos que buscan refugio de emergencia deberan traer sus propias mantas / almohadas, medicamentos, alimentos o suplementos dietéticos especiales, información de contacto y otros artículos necesarios. No se permite el consumo de alcohol, drogas ilegales o armas. El Centro Comunitario Fairchild no admite mascotas pero los residentes pueden traer sus mascotas y serán transportadas al refugio de animals en Burlington donde serán atendidos durante la tormenta.

2nd Shelter Opening in Alamance

Alamance County will be opening the Fairchild Community Center (827 S Graham Hopedale Rd, Burlington, NC 27217) on Friday (9/14/18) at 10:00am for all those who require overnight emergency shelter due to Hurricane Florence.

Those seeking emergency shelter should bring their own blankets/pillows, prescription medication, special dietary foods or supplements, contact information, and other necessary items. No alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons are permitted. The Fairchild Community Center Shelter is not pet friendly, but residents can bring pets, and they will be transported to the Burlington Animal Shelter where they will be taken care of during the storm.

The Alamance County Health Department and Social Services will be closed Friday, September 14, 2018.

Alamance County Courts Closed

The Alamance County District and Superior Courts as well as the Alamance County Clerk of Court Offices will be closed Friday, September 14, 2018.

Parks and Landfill Updates

Due to Hurricane Florence, all Alamance Parks facilities, including parks, community centers, and Haw River Trail Park and Paddle Access points will be closing at 5pm today (9/13/18) through Sunday (9/16/18).

The Alamance Landfill has adopted the below schedule (subject to change):

1. Landfill and Convenience Center will operate on a normal schedule on Thursday.

2. Landfill and Convenience Center will operate on a normal schedule on Friday as long as weather conditions allow for safety.

3. Landfill and Convenience Center will be closed on Saturday.

4. Convenience Center will operate on a normal schedule on Sunday.

  • Please be sure to secure all garbage and recycling containers in a shed or garage if possible to prevent them from being blown around due to high winds.

As previously announced, The Lamb’s Chapel located at the Haw River Campus (415 Roxboro Rd, Haw River, NC) will be open on Thursday (9/13/18) at 10:00am for all those who require overnight emergency shelter due to the anticipated storm.

Those seeking emergency shelter should bring their own blankets/pillows, prescription medication, special dietary foods or supplements, contact information, and other necessary items. No alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons are permitted. As a reminder, The Lamb’s Chapel Shelter is not pet friendly, but residents can bring pets, and they will be transported to the Burlington Animal Shelter where they will be taken care of during the storm.

The Lamb’s Chapel in Haw River Shelter Activated

The Lamb’s Chapel located at the Haw River Campus (415 Roxboro Rd, Haw River, NC) will be open on Thursday (9/13/18) at 10:00am for all those who require overnight emergency shelter due to the anticipated storm.

The shelter will be open to families, women and men, and meals will be provided. While the shelter is not pet friendly, you are welcome to bring your pets, and they will be taken to the Burlington Animal Shelter where they will be kept safe until after the storm.
