The Alamance County Board of Commissioners has set a public hearing for November 16, 2015, at 7pm to hear public responses to proposed changes to the Manufactured Home Park Ordinance.
At their regular meeting on October 19, 2015, the Alamance County Commissioners honored Willie Mae Currin for her lifetime of service as a teacher and member of the North Carolina Senior Tar Heel Legislature.
Mrs. Currin was joined by her family and grateful citizens of Alamance County who joined the commissioners in honoring her service. She shared her appreciation for the people of Alamance County, saying that they “have been wonderful, and I have loved everyone one of them. I have met so many lovely people, I really have.”
It’s our 40th anniversary- come help us celebrate with old-time farm games, hayrides, open farm, food, and more! Stick around for Ghosts in the Park storytelling at the farm. We’ll have a campfire and marshmallows for toasting. Costumes are optional. Free & open to the public.
Games include pin the tail on the donkey, cow pie toss, sack race, bean bag toss, milk can toss, egg-spoon relay race, bicycle tire roll, and a ring toss.
Hayrides and face painting will be offered throughout the event.
The Garrett Farm will be open for tours throughout the event.
Food will be available for purchase, provided by Danny’s Café.
After their meeting on Monday, August 3, 2015, the Alamance County commissioners dedicated a memorial bench to Donald L. Wilson, Jr., who passed away in July 2015.
Don was a well-known figure in downtown Graham, where he made many friends with people in county government, local businesses, and visitors to the downtown area. He spent his days in downtown Graham conversing with anyone he came across, running errands for people around town, and working to counsel people going through the criminal courts system as a part of his association with Piedmont Men of Steel..
At the dedication, Chairman Ingle warmly remembered comments made by a pastor at Don’s funeral, that Don had the unique ability to bring together a wide range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds together in friendship and affection.
The memorial bench is located on the first floor of the County Office Building, where Don spent many hours. The dedication plaque reads:
In Loving Memory of
Donald “Denzel” L. Wilson, Jr.
12/9/51-7/11/15
Always Loved…
Never Forgotten…
Forever Missed…
