January 21, 2016 – Countywide State of Emergency

PRESS RELEASE

Chairman Dan Ingle has signed a County-wide State of Emergency for Alamance County as of 3 pm today – following North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory who has declared a State of Emergency ahead of the approaching winter storm.

With the impending snow event that is facing Alamance County, Alamance County Emergency Management will open up its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning Friday, January 22 at 5 am.  This will be on a limited basis and will be in full operation at 7 am.

The EOC will operate from the Fire Marshall’s Office at the Family Justice Center in Burlington.  Please call the EOC for non-emergency questions and issues, as we would like to ensure that our 911 system does not become overloaded.  All emergency calls please continue to call 911.  The EOC phone number is 336-570-4089.

If you have power outages, please call Duke Energy’s hotline at 800-POWERON to report power outages, not 911.

Winter Weather – Being Prepared and Staying Safe

Our Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Office has a lot of good information on how to be prepared for Winter Weather, how to stay safe when the storm happens, and what to do in case of an emergency.

Also, if you haven’t signed up for ACE Alerts yet, now is a good time. You’ll be kept up to date on emergency information via text or email. You can also keep up to date by liking and following our Emergency Management Facebook page.
