Board of Commissioners Notice of Special Joint Meeting for June 20, 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners and the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education will hold a joint meeting on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. This meeting will occur at the Alamance County Historic Courthouse, located at 1 SE Court Square, Graham, NC 27253. 

The purpose of the meeting is to hold a joint meeting with the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education and a mediator of mutual choice, pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-431, to discuss the 2025-2026 budget for the Alamance Burlington School System, as adopted by the Alamance County Board of Commissioners on June 16, 2025.

Board of Commissioners Notice of Meeting Location Change for the Regularly Scheduled Alamance County BOC Meeting on June 16, 2025

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold their regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Alamance County Historic Courthouse, located at 1 SE Court Square, Graham, NC. This is a change from the normal meeting location.

Board of Commissioners Special Meeting Notice For June 9, 2025 and June 10, 2025

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: The Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold Special Meetings on the following dates: Monday, June 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. and Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Agriculture Building Auditorium located at 209-C N Graham-Hopedale Rd, Burlington, NC 27217. 

This meeting’s purpose is to review the manager’s recommended budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026.

Board of Commissioners Notice of Budget Public Hearing for Fiscal Year 2025-2026: June 2nd at Historic Courthouse

The Alamance County Manager has submitted the proposed fiscal year 2025-2026 budget to the Alamance County Board of Commissioners. A public hearing on the proposed budget ordinance will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Historic Courthouse, 2nd floor, at 1 SE Court Square, Graham, NC 27253. 

All interested citizens are encouraged to attend the public hearing and submit comments. The proposed budget ordinance is available online on the Alamance County website: www.alamancecountync.gov. Copies are also available in the offices of the Finance Officer and the Clerk to the Board for public inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Disabled persons with a special request for assistance, please contact the ADA Coordinator at (336) 570-4032, 48 hours prior to the meeting during normal business hours.

Update on County Burn Ban

To all Alamance County residents:

This notice is to notify the citizens of Alamance County that the burn ban that was put in place to coincide with the burn ban issues by the NC Forestry Service has been rescinded, effective at 8 a.m. on 4/2/2025. This includes all areas of Alamance County.

What does this mean?

You may continue to burn natural vegetation. It is always illegal to burn non-vegetative debris such as trash, construction materials, etc. Please continue to use caution and obtain the necessary burn permits.

Burn permits may be obtained from any authorized permitting agent or online at https://apps.ncagr.gov/burnpermits/

Ban on All Open Burning

To all Alamance County residents:

Effective at 08:00am hours on 03/21/2025, a burn ban has been issued for all areas of Alamance County due to high danger fire conditions. This ban will be enacted in conjunction with the ban put in place by the NC Forestry Service’s Statewide Burning Ban.

Absolutely no burning should occur within any area of Alamance County, including the City and Town limits of any municipality. This ban includes the use of firepits and natural vegetation fires. This ban also includes the burning of any material within 100 feet of any occupied dwelling.

All burn permits through the NC Forestry Service have been canceled.

Anyone violating this ban faces a fine of $100 and court costs associated per the NC Forestry Service.

This burn ban will remain in place until canceled by the NC Forestry Service.

To the residents of Alamance County
In an effort to provide transparency and accountability to our residents, Alamance County Government presents the 2023-2024 Citizens’ Financial Report. This report is an overview of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report that was prepared in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and audited by Martin Starnes & Associates, CPAs, P.A.. The General Fund accounts for the majority of operations for the County, but differs from the GAAP financial statements because accounting data has been summarized.

Alamance County continues to invest in its employees, public safety, human services, and education spending. The County, along with Alamance-Burlington School System and Alamance Community College, continue to work together through the capital facility plan to better meet the needs of our growing population. Fiscal Year 2023-2024 saw continued capital project investments in our schools and community college.

This report reflects our mission and the important work that our departments and partner organizations have provided to residents this year. We invite you to look over this basic report as well as the complete Annual Comprehensive Financial Report available on our website, and we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions you may have.

Notice of the January 21, 2025 Meeting Cancellation and Rescheduling of the Alamance County Board of Commissioners 

NOTICE is hereby given that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, has been canceled due to potential inclement weather. 

The meeting has been rescheduled to Monday, January 27, 2025, at 6:30 pm in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room. All agenda items to be discussed and considered during the January 21, 2025 meeting will be discussed and considered at that meeting, including the hearing of public comments.

Work has now begun for the 2027 Tax Reappraisal. Reappraisal staff will be out in the field and visiting properties throughout Alamance County. Please see the graphic above to help identify them and allow them to complete their jobs quickly and safely.
