County Announces SOAR Award for the 2nd Quarter of 2014/15

On January 7, 2015, the SOAR Award for Employee Excellence was presented to the Employee of the Quarter, Ms. Brenda Perry from Veteran’s Services.

Ms. Perry is the Director of Veteran’s Services.  She was instrumental in the organization of Alamance County’s first Veteran Day Parade in addition to her duties in the Veteran’s Services office. She will be presented as the winner to the Board of Commissioners at the 7:00 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

County Departments Moving to New Locations

Due to the upcoming demolition of the county annex building on College Street in Graham, the following county departments either have moved or will be moving to new locations.  Below, you will find a list of closing dates at the Annex location and opening dates at new locations.  If you have further questions about a specific department, please contact that department.

  • Alamance County Veteran Affairs has moved to the Court Services Building at 201 West Elm Street, Graham, effective December 1, 2014.  The Alamance County Veterans’ Affairs Office may be reached at 336-570-6763
  • The Alamance County Planning Department has moved to the Modular Building at 215 North Graham-Hopedale Road, Burlington, effective December 1, 2014.  The Alamance County Planning Board and Historic Properties Commission Meetings will be relocated.  The Alamance County Planning Department may be reached at 336-570-4053.
  • The Alamance County Passport Office will be closed from Wednesday, December 10 through Friday, December 12.  They will move to May Memorial Library at 342 South Spring Street, Burlington and will open for business on Monday, December 15.  The Alamance County Passport Office may be reached at 336-570-4160.
  • Alamance County Central Permitting / Inspections and Addressing will close on Monday, December 15 and will reopen at the Modular Building at 215 North Graham-Hopedale Road, Burlington on Tuesday, December 16.  The Alamance County Central Permitting/Inspections Office may be reached at 336-570-4057.

Alamance County’s goal is to give our citizens the highest quality service we can provide.  We understand that this moving process may cause some inconvenience.  Please be patient with us during this process as our departments and their customers adjust to these new locations.

Welcome Sheetz Distribution and Kitchen Facility

The county welcomed the new Sheetz Distribution Center on November 12, 2014 when the official ribbon cutting was held with a large attendance at its 1737 Whites Kennel Rd location.  Top executive Sheetz officials as well as local and state officials were there to celebrate this event.  After the cutting of the official ribbon, tours of the facility were given followed by a lunch reception.

SOAR Award Nomination Form

The office of the County Manager is pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new way to recognize excellent service and dedication by members of Alamance County Government.

Starting July 1, citizens may nominate any member of Alamance County Staff for recognition of service above-and-beyond the call of duty.

The ‘SOAR AWARD’ will be given on a quarterly basis to an employee of Alamance County Government, based on nominations received from citizens. At the end of the fiscal year, a ‘SOAR EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR’ will be selected. At the August Commissioners Meeting the ‘SOAR EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR’ will receive a plaque, a day off and a prize.

All nominees will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement. Quarterly award winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement, a day off and a prize.

Winners will be chosen by a committee of volunteers consisting of 1 member of County Management, 3 Department Heads and 3 County Employees. For impartiality, nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Committee with all personal information redacted.
