Department Spotlight: County Attorney

Alamance County is starting a series of articles and videos called Department Spotlight. These are about how our various departments are successfully providing services for the people of Alamance County according to the monthly performance based budgeting reports.

These may be departments you interact with on a regular basis. They may also be departments that keep the county operating, but don’t interact with the public. They are all necessary parts of a county government and are staffed by good people who work hard to help the county meet its goals of the best possible service for our citizens.

This month, we begin with our County Attorney’s office.

Commissioners Dedicate Memorial to County Friend

After their meeting on Monday, August 3, 2015, the Alamance County commissioners dedicated a memorial bench to Donald L. Wilson, Jr., who passed away in July 2015.

Don was a well-known figure in downtown Graham, where he made many friends with people in county government, local businesses, and visitors to the downtown area.  He spent his days in downtown Graham conversing with anyone he came across, running errands for people around town, and working to counsel people going through the criminal courts system as a part of his association with Piedmont Men of Steel..

At the dedication, Chairman Ingle warmly remembered comments made by a pastor at Don’s funeral, that Don had the unique ability to bring together a wide range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds together in friendship and affection.

The memorial bench is located on the first floor of the County Office Building, where Don spent many hours.  The dedication plaque reads:

In Loving Memory of
Donald “Denzel” L. Wilson, Jr.
12/9/51-7/11/15
Always Loved…
Never Forgotten…
Forever Missed…
