The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking an individual to fill an unexpired term on the Alamance County Justice Advisory Council. This person will serve as the representative of the “Consumer with lived mental health experience in long term recovery, NAMI representative or Community Advocate.”

Meeting Times: 1st Tuesday of each month from 8 am-9:30 am

Meeting Place: Family Justice Center Training Room @ 1950 Martin Street, Burlington NC 27217

Length of Terms: “at large” seats are staggered 2- year or 3- year terms

Purpose:  The purpose of the Justice Advisory Council is to provide advisory oversight for the criminal justice continuum in a comprehensive, community-based, and cross-discipline approach.  The council is made up of 25 voting members—six of which are members “at large” appointed by the county board of commissioners. These six-member “ at large” positions represent:  1) Local Defense Attorney 2) Faith-Based Organization Representative 3) Consumer with lived mental health experience in long term recovery, NAMI representative or Community Advocate 4) Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence or Human Trafficking Survivor, family member or Community Advocate ( at least 5 years removed from crisis services) 5) Local Psychiatrist and 6) Former Justice-Involved Community Representative ( 5 years with no arrest or indictment).

Special Meeting Notice

NOTICE is hereby given that the Alamance County Animal Control Review Board will convene on February 17th at 2 PM in the Alamance County  Commissioners Meeting Room located in the Alamance County Office Building located at  124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear appeals to animal control ordinance violations.

Alamance County ETJ Member Vacancy- Graham Planning Board ETJ Member & Graham Board of Adjustment ETJ Member

Alamance County is requesting interested residents in the Alamance County extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) to apply for an open position on the Graham Planning Board and the Graham Board of Adjustment. The successful candidate will serve on both boards as the ETJ member through June 30, 2023.

Notice of Special Joint Meeting

NOTICE is hereby given that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners will meet with the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education and the Local Legislators on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 8:30am in the Professional Library, Alamance-Burlington School System Administrative Offices located at 1712 Vaughn Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss mutual concerns.

Vice-Chair Steve Carter Sworn in as ACC Board of Trustees Member

Alamance County Commissioner Chairman John Paisley, Jr. swore in Vice-Chairman Steve Carter today as a new member of the Alamance Community College Board of Trustees.  Vice-Chair Carter will serve as the County Commissioner representative on the Board of Trustees.  Not only will Vice-Chair Carter serve as a Trustee, he will be a member of the ACC Building and Grounds Committee.

“I’m really looking forward to being a bonafide member of the ACC Board of Trustees”, said Vice-Chair Carter.  He has served and attended meetings as a liaison for the past several months so he is familiar with campus business.

Committee Volunteers Needed!

Alamance County is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee; Alamance County Senior Services Committee; Board of Health (Optometrist and Dentist); Burlington Board of Adjustment Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) Members; Burlington Planning & Zoning Board Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) Members; and the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE

Please take notice that the Alamance County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 7:00 PM to consider the following: Unified Development Ordinance

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing to consider comments regarding a compiling of local ordinances developed into the Alamance County Unified Development Ordinance to comply with G.S. Chapter 160D.  The public may view the proposed updated ordinance by clicking the following link: https://www.alamance-nc.com/planningdept/wp-content/uploads/sites/43/2021/06/DRAFT-Unified-Development-Ordinance-06-2021.pdf .  In addition the proposed ordinance can be reviewed at the Alamance County Planning Department located at 201 W Elm St. Graham, NC from 8am-5pm, Monday thru Friday.
