NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE ALAMANCE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW 

Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 105-322, the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will meet as required by law. 

PURPOSE OF MEETINGS 
To hear upon request, any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property assessed for taxation in Alamance County, with respect to the valuation of such property, or the property of others, and to fulfill other duties and responsibilities required by law. 

TIME OF MEETINGS 
The Board will convene for its meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2025

The meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 am in the County Commissioners Meeting Room 2nd floor of the County Office Building.

The schedule for the hearing of appeals timely filed will be posted at the office of the Tax Administrator, serving as Clerk to the Board and will also be provided to individuals and organizations that have requested notice pursuant to 

N.C.G.S. 143-318.12.

Accepting Applications for Vacancies on the Piedmont Triad Regional Council Workforce Development Board 

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners seeks citizens to fill two vacancies on the Piedmont Triad Workforce Development Board (PTRWDB). Each appointee will be appointed to a 3-year term. 

Applicants must be employed owners of businesses, chief executive officers, chief operations officers of non-governmental agencies, or other private sector executives with substantial management or policy responsibilities. Applicants should be someone providing employment opportunities in in-demand industry sectors/occupations. 

The PTRWDB is made up of volunteers from the public and private sectors who represent 10 counties in our local area: Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin. The PTRWDB oversees the NC Works Career Centers, which are local offices providing employment and training services. Board members act in an advisory capacity, providing input on strategic plan development and initiatives to be researched and implemented by the Board Director and staff. 

Meetings: Quarterly on the 3rd Wednesday of January, April, July, & October at 8:30 am, PTRC, 1398 Carrollton Crossing Dr., Kernersville, NC 27284

Board of Equalization and Review: Notice of Meetings

Requests for hearing must be received no later than final adjournment which is scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 5:00 pm. 

In the event of earlier or later adjournment, notice to that effect will be published in this newspaper.

Alamance County Board of Adjustment Alternate Vacancies

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking two applicants for appointment to serve as alternates to the Board of Adjustment.

The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that authorizes variances, in specific cases, from the terms of the Alamance County Unified Development Ordinance when a hardship would result from carrying out the strict letter of the regulations. The Board of Adjustment also hears and decides appeals from administrative decisions made by county Planning staff or other advisory boards. Alternates are appointed to serve when regular members are unable to attend or must recuse themselves from cases.

Requirements for membership: Must reside within Alamance County. Appointed alternates will fill the remainder of unexpired terms, which will end on December 31, 2026. Typical terms last for a period of three years.  

Meetings: The third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 124 W. Elm Street, Graham, N.C. 27253.

Eastern Piedmont Home Consortium Board Vacancies

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners are seeking two applicants for appointment to the Eastern Piedmont HOME Consortium Board for a three-year term. These two appointees will represent Alamance County and help guide the Consortium in addressing affordable housing needs across the five-county region. The two board members from Alamance County should live outside of Burlington City limits because Burlington has its own two board members.

Alamance Community College Board of Trustees Vacancy

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking a qualified resident to fill a
vacancy on the Alamance Community College Board of Trustees. The appointee will be
appointed to an unexpired term ending June 30, 2026.

Description: The Alamance Community College Board of Trustees governs the College within the framework of the Community Colleges Act, Chapter 115D of the North Carolina General Statutes. The ACC Board of Trustees is responsible for and approves the budgets for the financial operation of the College. The ACC Board of Trustees is responsible for providing adequate and competent administration for the efficient operations of the College.

Desired qualifications: Familiarity with Alamance County and a history of
advocacy for post-secondary educational training.

Meetings: The ACC Board of Trustees typically meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. (except July and December) in the Wallace W. Gee Building. G-222, on the Alamance Community College Campus.

Members: Four of the board members are appointed by the County Board of Commissioners, four by the Board of Education, and four by the Governor.

Recreation & Parks Commission Vacancy

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking a citizen to fill a Recreation and Parks Commission vacancy.  The appointee will be appointed to an unexpired term of June 30, 2025.  

The Recreation and Parks Commission is the advisory body for the Department of Recreation and Parks. It advises the Department and serves the Department and the citizens of Alamance County.

MEETINGS: The Recreation and Parks Commission typically meets on the 3rd  Tuesday of each month.  Please refer to the full meeting schedule for details on the location.

MEMBERS: An eleven-member commission: nine citizen volunteers appointed by the Alamance County Board of Commissioners, including one County Commissioner and one Board of Education Member.

Justice Advisory Council Vacancy

The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking an individual to fill an unexpired term on the Alamance County Justice Advisory Council. This person will serve as the representative of the “Consumer with lived mental health experience in long term recovery, NAMI representative or Community Advocate.”

Meeting Times: 1st Tuesday of each month from 8 am-9:30 am

Length of Terms: “at large” seats are staggered 2- year or 3- year terms

Purpose:  The purpose of the Justice Advisory Council is to provide advisory oversight for the criminal justice continuum in a comprehensive, community-based, and cross-discipline approach.  The council is made up of 25 voting members—six of which are members “at large” appointed by the county board of commissioners. These six-member “ at large” positions represent:  1) Local Defense Attorney 2) Faith-Based Organization Representative 3) Consumer with lived mental health experience in long term recovery, NAMI representative or Community Advocate 4) Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence or Human Trafficking Survivor, family member or Community Advocate ( at least 5 years removed from crisis services) 5) Local Psychiatrist and 6) Former Justice-Involved Community Representative ( 5 years with no arrest or indictment).
