PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.
The purpose of this Special Meeting is twofold. First, to hear, upon request, any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property assessed to taxation in Alamance County, who did not receive prior notice of the ability to be heard by this Board with respect to the valuation of such property. Second, to discuss a recent order of the North Carolina Property Tax Commission for remand on an appealed property and for staff to take direction from the Board. No further actions or announcements are expected.
An offer of $16,400 has been submitted for the purchase of the forty percent (40%) tenancy-in common interest owned by Alamance County, for property located at 1506 Wickham Street, Burlington, North Carolina, and more particularly described as follows:
THAT CERTAIN TRACT OR PARCEL of land in Burlington Township, Alamance County, North Carolina, adjoining the lands of Wickham Street, Lots Nos. 30, 5, 4, 3 and 32 of Block “C”, Brookwood, and BEGINNING at an iron stake on the western side of Wickham Street and corner with Lot No. 30; running thence with the line of Lot No. 30, South 53 deg. 03’ West 160 feet to an iron stake, corner with Lots Nos. 30, 5 and 4, Block “C”; thence with the line of Lot No. 4, South 36 deg. 14’ East 60 feet to an iron stake corner with Lots Nos. 4, 3 and 32; thence with the line of Lot No. 32, North 53 deg. 03’ East 160 feet to an iron stake on the western border of Wickham Street; thence with the said western border of Wickham Street, North 36 deg. 14’West 60 feet to the BEGINNING, and being all of Lot No. 31, Block “C”, Brookwood, Section 4, as per plat recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds for Alamance County, in Plat Book No. 3, at page 87. [Per Deed dated September 8, 1982 and recorded in Alamance County Register of Deeds, Deed Book 475, Page 500]
The Board instructed that this Notice required by §160A-269 be placed in the newspaper and advertised for upset bids to be received within the ten-day period after the date this Notice has been published.
Persons wishing to upset the offer that has been received shall submit a sealed bid with their offer to the County Clerk, 124 W. Elm Street, Graham, NC by 3:00 p.m. At that time the County Clerk shall open the bids, if any, and the highest qualifying bid will become the new offer. If there is more than one bid in the highest amount, the first such bid received will become the new offer.
To be responsible an upset bid must be accompanied by a bid deposit of ten percent of the first $1,000.00 together with five percent (5%) of the remainder amount of the upset bid. An upset bid deposit may take the form of cash, a cashier’s check, or certified check. The deposit of the bidder to whom the award is made will be held until sale of the property is closed; if that bidder refuses at any time to close the sale, the deposit will be forfeited to the County. The deposits of other bidders will be returned at the time the Board of Commissioners awards the property to the highest responsive, responsible bidder or rejects all bids.
The County reserves the right to withdraw the property from sale at any time and the right to reject all bids.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Equalization and Review will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.
The purpose of this Special Meeting is to discuss the giving of notice by the Board as to its duties under N.C.G.S. § 105-322 and for staff to take direction from the Board. No further actions or announcements are expected.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.
The purpose of this Special Meeting is to convene a closed session pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes § 143-318.11(4) and (5). No further public actions or announcements are expected following this closed session.
Approximately 11,000 residents in Alamance County stand to become eligible for Medicaid through this expansion. Those presently receiving Medicaid Family Planning benefits may find themselves automatically enrolled in this comprehensive healthcare coverage. Notification will be sent to those individuals eligible for automatic enrollment.
Under the Medicaid Expansion Plan, coverage will extend to citizens aged 19 to 64 with incomes up to 138% of the federal poverty level. This opens up the possibility of healthcare coverage through Medicaid for individuals who may not have qualified in the past.
Alamance County DSS encourages residents interested in enrolling for Medicaid under the expanded guidelines to utilize the convenient online application process at epass.nc.gov. A quick alternative to accessing the online application is scanning the QR code with a mobile device. This method is recognized as the fastest and easiest way to apply for benefits.
Alternatively, applicants can download the application from the website and submit it via mail, fax to (336) 260-8651 or the drop-off box conveniently located at the HSC entrance at the DSS building, 319 N. Graham Hopedale Rd., in Burlington.
While in-person applications are accepted, applicants should anticipate longer wait times due to expected high demand. To assist us with processing times, it is recommended to apply online at epass.nc.govor by using the provided QR code.
Recognizing the significance of Medicaid Expansion for the community, Alamance County DSS staff have diligently worked to prepare for this expansion. Anticipating a surge in demand, applicants may experience prolonged wait times during the application and processing of Medicaid Expansion benefits. We ask for your understanding and patience during this time.
To further assist the community, Alamance County DSS will host an outreach event providing information and assistance with the application process. The details for this event will be announced shortly.
