Planning Public Information Session and Public Hearing

The Alamance County Planning Department is pleased to announce the following upcoming events:

Date & Time: Thursday, August 31, 2017, 4pm-6pm
Location: Alamance County Agriculture Extension Office Auditorium, 209 N. Graham Hopedale Rd., Burlington, 27217.
Public Information Session: The Alamance County Planning Department will hold an information session to provide additional information about projects underway in the Planning Department. This includes changes to the Alamance County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and proposed map changes. Staff will be available to help interpret any changes related to affected properties and explain any questions about the Ordinance. There will also be an opportunity to discuss work related to a Unified Development Ordinance and Comprehensive Planning efforts in the County. All interested citizens are invited to attend.

Date & Time: Monday, September 18, 2017, 7pm
Location: Alamance County Office Building, 124 West Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253.
Public Hearing: The Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider changes to the Alamance County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. This hearing is being held to consider adoption of revised flood maps, clarified definitions and application of optional items related to the Ordinance. All interested citizens are invited to attend.

County Government Academy Fall 2017 Now Accepting Applications

Alamance County is now accepting applications for its upcoming Fall 2017 County Government Academy.  The academy is free and will run for 10 consecutive Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00pm (the County Landfill session will start at 3:00pm-5:00pm) at various county departments starting on September 5th and will conclude on November 7th.

The County Government Academy helps participants learn about the county’s responsibilities and the vital role that county government plays in the community.

Participants must be Alamance County residents.  Members serving on board-appointed advisory boards/committees are encouraged to sign-up.  Class size is limited and academy slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Participants are asked to commit to attending every session.

Convention & Visitors Bureau Survey

County Gov Academy Visits Landfill

The 2017 Spring County Government Academy concluded its last session at the county landfill.  Richard Hill, Solid Waste Director and Emily Ball, Asst. Solid Waste Director, spoke to the group about the size, regulations, and life expectancy of the landfill.  Ms. Ball detailed the many layers of the landfill cell and discussed the recycling services.  Johnny Dehart, Lead Attendant, accompanied the group on the tour.  The group observed some of the landfill operations.  They also observed and spoke with Emily Hinton, Landfill Attendant, who was finishing up work in the Recycling Center.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold their April 17th regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Alamance County Historic Courthouse, 1 Court Square, Graham, NC. This is a change in location from the normal meeting location.
