Alamance County Government strives to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by implementing accessibility measures in public facilities and services. This includes making county buildings, programs, and activities accessible to individuals with disabilities, providing accommodations such as accessible parking spaces, ramps, and elevators. Additionally, the county works to ensure that its website and communication methods are accessible to all residents, including those with visual or hearing impairments. Through ongoing efforts and adherence to ADA guidelines, Alamance County aims to foster an inclusive environment for all community members.

Americans with Disabilities Act

Alamance County is committed to ADA compliance and does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its programs, services, or activities.

  • Effective Communication: The County will provide reasonable accommodations, upon request, to ensure effective communication for qualified individuals with disabilities.
  • Employment: The County adheres to ADA regulations in its hiring and employment practices.
  • Facilities, Programs, and Policies: The County will make reasonable modifications to ensure equal access to all facilities, programs, and services for people with disabilities.

This notice is provided as required by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.


The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), as amended by the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2010, prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with a disability. The ADA provides comprehensive civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment, public accommodations, and governmental services.  

Title I of the ADA prohibits state and local governments from discriminating against qualified individuals with a disability regarding employment and employment opportunities. All decisions related to employment, including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, training, assignment, reassignment, promotion, compensation, transfer, and benefit, will be made based on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, in conjunction with the needs of the County, while considering any requested reasonable accommodation.  

Title II of the ADA prohibits of state and local governments from discriminating against qualified individuals with disabilities in providing services, programs, and activities, as well as in providing access to public facilities. Regulations implementing Title II of the ADA call upon state and local governments to ensure that individuals with physical and mental disabilities are afforded equal opportunity to participate in any public benefit programs, services, and activities. Guilford County strives to ensure that individuals with disabilities can use, participate in, and enjoy the services, programs, and activities, as well as facilities, which the County provides.

We aim to make the information on AlamanceCountyNC.gov as usable as possible for everyone, without requiring special adjustments, and are actively working to comply with Section 508 and the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative Priority One guidelines.
